Straight Talk About Jingles

   Los Angeles CA - November, 2009 - -

Why a jingle? A jingle is a device used to help your listeners remember you as a vendor when your products or services are needed. It is not a song designed to entertain and become popular. True, some of them do, but that doesn't make them more or less valuable as an advertising tool. In fact, almost any song, if it is heard enough, will be retained in a listener's short term memory, and can be easily recalled almost immediately when only a few notes are heard. Even if a long period of time has elapsed, the melody can be recalled quickly, whether it was a "favorite song" or not.

That, boys and girls, is what makes a jingle an effective advertising tool.

I've always liked ____(insert your favorite rock and roll song here)____, can I get that as my jingle? Absolutely. Are you prepared to cough up a lot of money (seriously folks, a lot of money!)? It's a pretty sure bet that the listener will remember the song (maybe even sing along with it), but will they remember you? While we're on this subject, no, we will not write a jingle that "uses the tune" of a popular song with new words for a business. That's copyrighted material, and we will not infringe on someone's copyright. It's not only not nice, it's illegal.

Ok then, how much does a jingle cost? That depends on where it is used. For use on a television commercial in a major market (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc.) or for a nationwide advertising campaign, we have to talk. However, local use jingles are very reasonable, and we have established a price sheet for those.
